Dr. Juan Plate is a board-certified thoracic and general surgeon who is also involved in research studies in cardiothoracic surgery. Prior to joining Memorial, Dr. Plate was an assistant professor in the cardiothoracic surgery division at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Dr. Plate earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed medical school at UMDNJ. Following that, Dr. Plate completed his residency in general surgery in the Department of Surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., where he also served as a chief administrative resident. Dr. Plate then returned to UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he completed his residency in thoracic surgery.
