Memorial Healthcare System Actively Recruiting for the Next President and CEO

The South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners has launched a national search for the next President and CEO of Memorial Healthcare System and has retained the services of the national search firm, WittKieffer, which specializes in health care leadership searches. The new President and CEO will succeed Aurelio M. Fernandez, III, FACHE, who will be retiring.

Since October 2021, WittKieffer has been laying the foundation for the search by first meeting with a series of healthcare system leaders and physicians to gather perspective on opportunities and challenges facing Memorial, as well as input about the ideal profile for the next President and CEO. Since, WittKieffer has been actively recruiting in the national marketplace on behalf of the Board.

Recently, WittKieffer presented on the backgrounds of interested candidates to the Board of Commissioners. The Board has identified candidates for first round of interviews, which will be held virtually on March 16 and 17. Finalists will be selected and invited in person in late March and throughout April to meet a broad range of key stakeholders, including physicians, leadership team members and others at Memorial Healthcare System.

Once all interviews are completed, the Board of Commissioners will meet and make a decision regarding the selection of the next President and CEO with an announcement to follow.
